RIP to the King of Pop

Today John and I decided to take a little Sunday drive and pay our respects to Michael Jackson, the King of Pop. We started with the Jackson family compound but soon realized that there was nothing there except "No Trespassing" signs. We waited around for awhile and then moved on.

When we first entered the area where Michael Jackson lived and died we were really surprised because there weren't any cars around and at first there we couldn't see any candles or flowers that were all there right after he died. We parked the car and took a picture of the bedroom where they say MJ actually died...

By the time we were ready to leave there were many admirers in tow. For all the quirky things that Michael Jackson did and represented toward the latter part of his life, there is one thing that no one can deny - he was amazingly talented and his music will live on forever. RIP...

We are bad luck to the fish in our lives...

So about 4 months ago we struck out on a whale watching adventure in Long Beach. Whale watching turned into watching the pelican's wait for fish in the harbor and also watching the big containers come into the ports from China and Japan. But it was still so much fun!

Friday night we went deep sea fishing with several friends from Huntington Beach. It was a blast! Except JP caught 2 fish and had to throw them both back, and I caught a tiny mackerel which I hooked by the gill and killed before I could reel it in. I am a mean mean girl. I don't know if I can consider myself a vegetarian anymore:(... but overall we had so much fun being with friends on a boat in the sea. I don't think that fishing is our calling in life but hey - there is always sales:)

A Rockin' 4th of July in Salt Lake City, Utah

Last week JP and I left California in the wee hours of the morning on the way to our old stomping grounds ... UTAH! John's sister Paige from Nashville was planning on being in town for the 4th and we decided to jump on the bandwagon! The weekend was FULL of family, fun, fireworks, and food! We stayed with Lindsey and Dave and their 3 kids, Emerson, Henry and Oliver. We were also lucky enough to see Tay, Ash and Paige while we were in town. Alexa and Brad joined us for The Proposal at the Jordan Commons, and a delicious BBQ while watching fireworks from the perfect view outside of Lindsey and Dave's home.

On the 3rd of July we drove up to Kaysville for a Peterson/Berger/Servoss reunion! Sandy and Bill Berger's home was full of family from all over the country - we met up with some California cousins and there was even representation from Mississippi and Michigan! After a great dinner we made our way back to North Salt Lake and visited with Faruk and Jane Nader before watching fireworks at the Eaglewood Country Club. The fireworks were outstanding and a great preview for the next night.

During the day on the 4th we drove up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Silver Lake and went on a beautiful hike. We are always taken back by the serenity and peacefulness of the Utah mountains. It was so nice to breath air without smog!

Later that night we watched fireworks with friends and family on the Randle's back porch. It was SO much fun... We could see 5 shows at the same time! No better seat in town! After the fireworks died down we played a rousing game of Catchphrase and then of course the classic "Telephone". Emerson and Henry were in rare form with some of the telephone messages being passed around:)

We didn't want to leave! Thanks everyone for a perfect 4th of July we will never forget! It's back to the trenches of sales for both JP and Me:) Come visit us in California!
